Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC)
The Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Technological Studies, University of Vavuniya, serves as the cornerstone of quality assurance and continuous improvement within the faculty. Committed to fostering a culture of excellence, the FQAC facilitates the enhancement of academic standards, teaching and learning practices, research activities, and institutional effectiveness.
Through systematic evaluation, evidence-based decision-making, and stakeholder engagement, the FQAC supports the faculty’s pursuit of academic excellence and innovation. By promoting best practices and quality enhancement initiatives, the Cell contributes to the development of a dynamic learning environment that meets the expectations of students, industry, and society.
Objectives
To promote a sustainable culture of quality, excellence, and innovation within the Faculty of Technological Studies.
To ensure the continuous enhancement of academic programmes, teaching and learning processes, research activities, and student support services.
To maintain academic standards in line with national quality assurance frameworks and emerging global trends in technology and higher education.
To facilitate evidence-based decision-making through systematic monitoring, evaluation, and analysis of academic performance and quality indicators.
To support the development of industry-relevant, outcome-based curricula that meet the evolving demands of the ICT and technology sectors.
To encourage the adoption of innovative teaching, learning, and assessment practices that enhance student engagement and employability.
To strengthen stakeholder participation, including students, graduates, employers, and industry partners, in quality enhancement initiatives.
To foster continuous improvement and best practices that contribute to producing competent, skilled, and globally competitive technology professionals.
Functions
Coordinate and oversee quality assurance and quality enhancement activities across teaching, learning, research, administration, and community engagement within the faculty
Facilitate quality review processes, including Programme Reviews, Institutional Reviews, Peer Evaluations, and other quality assurance exercises to ensure academic excellence and compliance with national standards.
Support curriculum development and academic quality enhancement through Outcome-Based Education (OBE), alignment with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF), Subject Benchmark Statements, and industry requirements.
Monitor and evaluate academic performance and stakeholder feedback through result analysis, quality performance indicators, and surveys to promote evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement by organizing awareness programmes, professional development activities, preparing quality assurance reports, and collaborating with academic, industry, and professional stakeholders.
